Following a 15-hour flight, Emirates Airlines brought us safely to Dubai last night, arriving at 7:00 p.m., June 15, Arab Emirates time, 6:00 a.m., June 15, California time. Contemplating that we lost more than a half-day in the process, one of our somewhat bewildered participants, Jane, asked, “Are we ever going to get it back?!” (Of course, the response is yes, when we fly back in July). Outside evening temperatures were in the balmy mid-nineties as we boarded our shuttle for the hotel.
After eating a healthy and substantial hotel dinner, everyone was pretty tired and we soon retired to our rooms. But for some, the time change made sleep difficult. We gathered in the hotel lobby at 7:15 this morning for breakfast, and at 8:00 boarded our shuttle back to the Dubai airport where we now await our flight to Nairobi. Kenya here we come!
